What Is Teeth Whitening?
- Drinking tea and coffee
- Smoking tobacco
- Eating teeth-staining foods
However, the color of your teeth might also simply be related to your genes. While discolored teeth are not necessarily a sign of unhealthy teeth, they can still have an impact on your life and how you feel about your smile. It aims to remove stains and brighten your teeth so your smile can truly shine. Sometimes, no amount of toothpaste and toothbrushing will keep your teeth white. That is what professional teeth whitening is for.
Benefits
While whitening does not treat dental health concerns, it certainly still comes with a range of benefits. It is no secret that our smile plays a major role in our lives. So it is important to feel good about how your smile looks, to feel confident in showing those pearly whites in moments of joy and happiness with those around you.
- Brighter, whiter teeth
- A smile that can build confidence
- Removal of stubborn stains that don’t respond to brushing
- Safer treatment with better results
With a brighter smile and confidence in that smile, you can also see other benefits in your life. For example, smiling more often is linked to overall better mental health, which can then benefit your overall health. In other words, it can radiate positive effects into other aspects of your life.
Is Teeth Whitening Right for Me?
What Is the Process Like?
We offer two options for professional teeth whitening: an in-office Zoom Whitening and a take-home tray whitening. For tray whitening, we create custom trays for you to use along with professional whitening gel. You wear these trays for a certain amount of time each day (up to a couple of hours) for a set period of time. The total time for this treatment can vary and depends on the amount of whitening you want to achieve.
In-office whitening is popular for its speed and efficiency. For some patients, you may get your teeth to the desired level of whiteness in a single visit! Choosing the right option for you depends on your goals and what is most convenient for you. During your appointment, Dr. Joshi can discuss the benefits of each type of treatment to help you decide which is the right one for you.
How Does Zoom Teeth Whitening Work?
Unlike other whitening systems, Zoom! Whitening is a simple and short procedure performed by your dentist. Not only is it safe and comfortable, but the results are immediate and long-lasting.
One 45-60 minute session of Zoom! Whitening is all it takes to brighten your smile up to eight shades.
Your lips and gums are covered so only your teeth are exposed. Your dentist then applies the Zoom! whitening gel and uses the specially designed Zoom! light on your teeth. Together, the light and gel gently break up and remove any stains and discoloration. This is repeated 3-4 times in 15 minute increments.
After the procedure, your dentist may provide you with touch-up trays to maintain your new smile. Then, you are finished and can enjoy a brighter and whiter smile!
